Winter Conditions – Clothing Advice

As a school we will work hard to keep the school open. We dynamically risk assess each day to ensure that people coming onto the site are as safe as possible. Our premises team do an amazing job in clearing snow and gritting to ensure safe access routes to school.

When the snow is in good condition, we will run break and lunch-times outside. Snowball fighting is not allowed on the main playground although we sometimes set-up targets for the children to aim at. Building snowmen, igloos and playing in the snow is actively encouraged.

On a snow day please ensure that your child comes to school in spare wellington boots or substantial boots/shoes. Please pack their school schools in their bag so they can wear them indoors. This ensures that they are dry and warm throughout the day.

Children will need their wellington boots or substantial boots/shoes, a warm hat, gloves and a good coat to play outside at break or lunch-time. Children without the correct kit will not be allowed to play outside. Likewise, if conditions get too icy, we implement our wet playtime routine.
